Michael Heath, M.A.
Michael Heath, affectionately known as “Mr. Michael,” is one of our dedicated 3rd grade homeroom teachers. He began his journey with Riverview as the Tidewatch Afterschool Education and Sports Program Leader shortly after his family received orders for the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort in 2011. Encouraged by his new Riverview family, he transitioned into an instructional assistant and then homeroom teacher in 2019-2020 after receiving his Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, which he pursued while working full-time with Riverview.
Hailing from Huntsville, Alabama, and a proud “Roll-Tide” fan, Mr. Michael graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Sport Management from the State University of New York (SUNY) in Cortland. His career began with prominent roles, including working for The Washington Capitals (NHL) and managing a Sport and Health Inc. franchise gym in Washington D.C. However, his true passion emerged while working with kids as an assistant director for “Rock Solid” Sports, Parks and Recreation Camp in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he also served as a Red Cross-trained swim instructor at the Swim School.
Michael first realized his ability to make an impact as a diverse role model and educator while teaching at one of the largest high schools in Shreveport, LA. Inspired by his work with children and his experiences at Riverview, he decided to transition into the classroom full-time.
At home, Michael is supported by his wife, an MD in the US Navy, and their two daughters, who have both attended Clemson and then graduated from Ivy League institutions, with one being a proud graduate of Riverview herself! Michael is excited to bring his wealth of experience and tough love to the Riverview Charter School family.

While students in her class will be learning academics through a variety of methods, they will also be striving to successfully collaborate with others, monitor their own behavior, and make responsible decisions. If a child can master those skills while also developing a love for learning then he or she has an excellent foundation for adulthood- which is her ultimate goal as a teacher.
